Event: Caribbean Course Racing Championship 2010 Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico Date: 7/9/10-7/11/10
Date: 07-09-2010
The Caribbean Course Racing Championship was one of the most fun racing events yet.  We had wind everyday, warm breeze, turquoise water and friendly people.  The event was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico and organized by KiteSurf PR.  The fleet consisted of some of the best course racers in the world, along with an extremely talented local foil-board fleet of at least seven guys, who demonstrated that this technology is here to stay with obscene upwind performance.

The race course was short and close to shore, bringing exciting racing to the spectators lining the sea wall. The short course, multiple lap format was fast and furious, and was an exciting departure from long leg races typically seen at course racing events. Our Cabrinha Kites were performing very well for Damien and myself.  Damien won almost all the races!  Close behind was Ozone rider and current World Champion, Adam Koch, and Takoon Frenchman, Julien Kerneur.
Outside the top 3 there was close racing between local hero Phil Morstad (North), the strapless sensation Bryan Lake (Ozone), 2-time Olympic Medalist Mike Gebhardt (Ozone), the Miami Gringo Patrick Rynne (Cabrinha), the North American speed record holder and only woman in the fleet Melissa Gil (Cabrinha), Gary “the vice” Menk (Cabrinha), and the NW Speed Machine Andrew Koch (Ozone).

Big thanks to Karla Barrera for organizing such a great event!
